Acupressure is the practice of applying hand or finger pressure to specific energetic or conductive points on the
body. It helps to activate the body’s recuperative ability and assists in diminishing congestion. Soul Lightening Acupressure uses a softer form
of curved finger pressure on the points but it is based upon the same ancient principles as the art of acupuncture.
A full acupressure session can take from 1 to 1 1/2 hours while the client lies fully clothed on a massage table. An acupressure session can address many common symptoms, including stress, back problems, headaches, respiratory, depression, emotional imbalance, immune or lymph issues, allergies, hot flashes, shoulder or neck issues, healing from injuries, etc. Process work can also be combined with acupressure (see Process Acupressure below)
This hands-on work releases and strengthens the body’s energy systems--meridians and chakras. It is especially helpful with stress-related conditions. But it is not meant to replace medical care although it can be an effective complementary therapy.
The session begins with a basic acupressure protocol which will help open and balance the meridians and chakras, relax and clear the body and promote greater awareness and vitality in all parts of the whole being. Chakra alignment and grounding is included at the end of acupressure sessions.
Process Acupressure is a holistic way to work with the active energy of both body and soul for healing and growth. PA is an exceptionally effective method for facilitating a deep, supportive and potentially transformational experience. It is a gentle and simple way to enhance health, personal awareness and growth. The practitioner applies firm, gentle finger pressure to specific acupoint combinations and encourages the client to notice what they are experiencing. Often, by acknowledging and addressing what arises in the mind, emotions, body and spirit during a session, positive change can begin to occur. The unique essence of the individual is magnified and brought into clearer focus. The client is empowered to choose the pace and depth of this exploration at all times. PA can stand alone as a therapeutic modality or it can be combined with psychotherapy or other bodywork modalities. It does not replace medical care and is not appropriate for severe medical problems or psychosis.
You may schedule an acupressure session:
1) for a specific issue (see examples above),
2) to release stress,
3) to strengthen and balance your energy system or
4) to balance and align the chakras, etc.
Some acupoints are not recommended during certain stages of pregnancy so please tell me if you are or might be pregnant.
